David Fincher is, without exaggeration, a director who changed the face of the modern thriller. Fight Club, Zodiac, Gone Girl—each of these films brought something new to the genre and instantly became a classic.

But it was Se7en, a neo-noir masterpiece, that cemented Fincher’s reputation as the darkest and most unflinching storyteller in Hollywood. The film’s story of a serial killer cleverly intertwines with the biblical concept of the seven deadly sins, unfolds in unpredictable ways, and is set in a grim, decaying metropolis. A masterpiece worthy of endless rewatches.
