Dallas Buyers Club is one of the best dramas of the 2010s — and it's based on a true story. A film about the will to live against all imaginable odds.

The main character, struck by a little-known illness, faces a whole range of challenges — from stigma to government pressure — but ultimately ends up changing the course of history. Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto deliver titanic performances with astonishing transformations. And it's arguably the defining film of director Jean-Marc Vallée, also known for Wild and Demolition.
