Description

David Lynch needs no introduction. A great experimenter and avant-gardist, the patriarch of cinematic surrealism and a maestro of our nightmares. His works are often described as strange and difficult to grasp. But we invite you to watch one of his most accessible films.

The Elephant Man is Lynch’s Hollywood debut and a screen adaptation of a real, heartbreaking story that took place in Victorian England. The main character is disfigured by a rare disease, yet the true Lynchian monster in this story is not him.

The film features a titanic performance by young John Hurt, best known to many today as Ollivander from Harry Potter. Before the screening, we’ll host a short lecture to help unlock the world of Lynch and understand what truly makes great surrealist cinema. And as always, we’ll enjoy the sunset view from the rooftop overlooking Republic Square.
