Description

Mel Gibson is a filmmaker with a unique style and a distinct creative vision. His movies are epic stories marked by an extraordinary level of hyperrealism. In Apocalypto, one of his finest works, Gibson brings to life the stunningly colorful and brutal world of the Maya civilization on the eve of its collapse. To fully immerse viewers in the atmosphere of Mesoamerica, he made a number of radical choices: the actors speak in an ancient Mayan language, the film was shot under extreme conditions in the Mexican jungle, and the use of CGI was kept to an absolute minimum. The result is an exceptionally powerful and gripping cinematic experience. Watching it outdoors — on a rooftop in the heart of Yerevan — will make it even more unforgettable. Host: Pavel Orlov — film scholar and contributor to Kinopoisk.

The lecture and discussion will be held in Russian. The screening will be in the original language with Russian subtitles.

Other guests can sit with you at the same table.
