1984 | A Multimedia Musical in Yerevan
Schedule
GABRIEL SUNDUKYAN NATIONAL ACADEMIC THEATRE
Description
A contemporary multimedia musical inspired by George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984 and based on poems by Vera Polozkova.
The production reimagines Orwell’s story in the modern world of live broadcasts, digital surveillance, and media manipulation. In this version, Big Brother no longer watches silently through cameras — he appears on screens, speaks directly to millions, and gradually reshapes reality itself.
At the center of the story are two people trying to preserve love and personal freedom in a society where emotions become dangerous, language loses meaning, and truth is constantly rewritten.
The musical combines performance with original music created specifically for the production by Alexander Krasovitsky, frontman of Animal ДжаZ and Zero People. Rather than retelling the classic novel directly, it presents a modern interpretation focused on fear, memory, control, freedom, and human connection.
